Acne can affect all groups and while not life-threatening, can cause emotional distress. Severe acne can lead to scarring. Treatments vary depending on type and severity of lesions, skin type, and patient’s age and lifestyle. Options other than medications include facials with extractions, chemical peels, and microdermabrasions.
